Betty Peterson was the recipient of the Good Neighbor Award.

Each year the Eloy Chamber of Commerce hands out three awards to deserving individuals who have gone “beyond of duty.” Those awards are handed out to the deserving recipients at the annual Dinner and Awards Program, which this year was held at the Holiday Inn Ballroom in Casa Grande on January 22. For 2015 Robson Ranch resident Betty Peterson was the recipient of the Good Neighbor Award!

The Good Neighbor Award identifies a person who has contributed back to the community by volunteering, donating services or doing good deeds throughout the year. Betty certainly exemplifies all of those qualities.

Since she moved to Robson in 2006, Betty has served on many boards throughout the city of Eloy and Casa Grande, including Boys and Girls Club, Against Abuse and Victims Compensation. Recently she has been elected vice president of the Eloy Downtown Advisory Commission and is a member of PCAO Pinal Rescue & Restore Program (prevention and intervention in human trafficking).

Betty is well known in Eloy as well as Robson Ranch as the founder and president of Community Outreach Robson Ranch (CORR). Working with the schools in Eloy, elementary students receive shoes, socks and books from CORR yearly. Lately she has been very busy with her newest adventure, the “Heart of Eloy” store, which is located on Main Street in Eloy. This has been a dream of Betty’s for a while, and she was finally able to secure a building to make that dream a reality. The store will feature gently used items that the community can purchase. All profits from the store will be given back to the Eloy community to help additional Eloy students with clothes, shoes, classroom supplies and many more requested services.

Betty greatly appreciates the support from Robson Ranch and Eloy residents who have attended CORR events, purchased tickets, donated money, donated items for the store and supported the Eloy students. Congratulations for the well-deserved award: The Good Neighbor Award!
