An alternative way

Larry Sundin

“Your Kingdom Come” is a request from the Lord’s Prayer. If you are bold enough to pray this request, you are making quite a statement. For whoever prays, Your Kingdom Come is saying that your allegiance lies in another realm and that you serve a king who bows to no one. I for one am glad that Jesus teaches us to pray this way. For since he came into our world, the kingdom of the world hasn’t changed all that much in 2000 years. The kingdom of this world still exalts the strong, still celebrates celebrity and still caters to the rich. However, the kingdom Jesus speaks of is an alternative society of people who find strength in their weakness, celebrate a Risen Savior and cater to the broken and spiritually poor among us. After all, it was Jesus who said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

At Rock Springs we are learning how God graciously and patiently works through ordinary people to restore His kingdom here on earth. He works through people who struggle with faith. He works through dysfunctional families. He even works through failures. But mostly He works through people like us who are crazy enough to pray, Your Kingdom Come. So if you are spiritually discontent with the way things are, perhaps God might be saying it’s time to pray His way, Your Kingdom Come.

And if you are wondering how God works through those who struggle with faith, families or failure, then why not join us on Sunday mornings as we journey through the Story of God together. Beginning in June, Rock Springs Church will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the Cheyenne and Laredo Rooms at the Ranch Clubhouse. Or check us out online at www.rockspringsrr.com.
